Investigator/Trainer

Klynton Howell

Australia

Over the past 35 years, Klynton has worked across a broad range of industries, accumulating a diverse set of skills and knowledge from sectors including defence, corrective services, manufacturing, power generation, heavy mining, water and sewerage infrastructure, traffic management, and labour hire. This cross-industry depth gives Klynton a unique perspective and the ability to engage meaningfully with workforces and leadership teams at every level of an organisation.

Since transitioning into Work Health and Safety, Klynton has continuously advanced his knowledge through formal tertiary study, successfully completing his Master of Work Health and Safety at the University of Newcastle in 2016. This academic achievement, combined with more than two decades of hands-on industry experience, positions Klynton as a credible and trusted advisor to organisations navigating complex WHS challenges.

Klynton has played a central role in introducing and embedding the ICAM investigation methodology across multiple organisations — taking on the roles of Lead Investigator, Trainer, Coach, and Mentor throughout these implementation programs. His investigation work spans routine workplace incidents through to sensitive matters conducted under Legal Professional Privilege, with outcomes consistently focused on long-term prevention rather than blame.

Klynton has extensive skills and experience in:

  • HSEMS Auditing (internal and external systems)

  • HSEMS systems development, integration, and certification

  • Incident Investigation (ICAM, RCA, Apollo, 5 Whys)

  • Contractor and Subcontractor Management

  • Change Management and Organisational Culture

  • Project Management (Lean Six Sigma)

  • Behavioural and Cultural Safety Programs

  • Safety Training, Facilitation, and Capability Development

  • High-risk hazard management, including confined spaces, working at heights, high voltage, isolations, permit to work, chemical management, and emergency response
